Kelley Lockard

Principal

Kelley Lockard first joined the WSG staff in 2006 as a math teacher, having launched her teaching career in District of Columbia Public Schools. After serving nearly a decade in that role, Kelley was promoted to Assistant Principal and then Principal. During her years as a teacher, she also demonstrated leadership as a Math Team Lead and the coordinator of an after school program. Kelley was motivated to become a math teacher by her desire to help students move beyond their comfort zone, particularly girls who may be socialized to avoid math despite their potential to succeed. As Principal, she strives to provide opportunities for students to use their voices and become self-advocates in their education.

Kelley holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Bennett College, and a Master of Science in Educational Administration from Trinity Washington University. Her many professional development experiences include completion of the Data Wise program through the Harvard Graduate School of Education and co-presenting “Social Justice and Equity, from the Classroom to the Board Room” at the International Coalition of Girls Schools regional conference. Outside of the classroom, Kelley is a member of the Dance Ministry at Mount Ennon Baptist Church.
