We believe that every student from every background deserves to be challenged, supported, and inspired in school. We put that belief in action through an innovative educational approach that is proven effective.

At the Washington School for Girls, the ideals of racial and gender equity are at the heart of our reason for being. We serve students who live in Washington’s Ward 8 and surrounding neighborhoods, providing them with a faith-based education of excellence, with full scholarship for each student.

We do so with the conviction that our students deserve every opportunity afforded to other students in the Washington DC area, without barriers from economics, race, or gender. In short, they deserve to pursue their dreams to be their best selves.

Expanding STEM Learning

We will prepare our students for the careers of the future by offering more opportunities for engaging, hands-on STEM learning in our new Science Lab and Maker Space. These facilities, combined with growing partnerships with expert program providers, will allow our students to dream big and begin developing the foundational skills that will propel them to success.

Developing our girls as leaders

We will continue to grow our intentional programs to help each student discover her voice and become a positive change agent in her family, community, and the world at large. From instituting a leadership curriculum in the middle school to deepening mentorship program partnerships, our students will become confident and courageous leaders.

Supporting student health and wellness

We will work to ensure our students have the resources at school to feel safe and supported. Wellness is a state of being that encompasses many areas of health: mental health, physical health, and spiritual health, and flourishes when students have a strong sense of belonging. We will continue to offer comprehensive support and will explore opportunities to add more resources for students with unique learning needs.
