Enrichment

WSG values experiential learning and the many different ways that students learn and grow. Out-of-classroom enrichment is an important part of education, and WSG has designed our school to foster learning in every environment. In addition to field trips, guest speakers, and student leadership opportunities that exist within our academic program, WSG delivers a wide variety of enrichment activities for our students.

Extended Day

WSG’s Extended Day program provides robust and diverse opportunities for students to explore their passions and expand their learning through hands-on experiences. We partner with organizations who are experts in their area to provide high-quality clubs in athletics, STEM, and the arts. Club offerings vary each semester, but often include activities such as dance, yearbook, programming and robotics, soccer, cooking, and art.

Saturday School

Saturday School is designed to provide additional individualized academic enrichment for students to ensure they meet their academic goals. Our Saturday School volunteers collaborate with school staff to align small group learning with the WSG curriculum. Additionally, students enrolled in Saturday School participate in special field trips and whole-family enrichment activities.

Intersession

WSG’s balanced calendar academic program is designed to minimize summer learning loss by distributing the traditional summer holiday over several extended breaks from classroom learning throughout the year, creating three Intersessions: fall, spring, and summer. During that time, WSG offers Intersession programs that allow students to deeply immerse themselves in a particular enrichment experience. Past Intersession activities have included playwriting, dance, visual arts, and exploring DC history and culture.

My classmates and I worked together and pushed each other like we would if we were in the classroom. I can’t believe we created robots.
