Why Work For Us?
Whether you are an administrator, classroom teacher, or program support staff, you will contribute to this mission through your work. If you are passionate about educational equity for Black and Brown girls and have a growth mindset, we invite you to explore career opportunities at WSG.
At WSG, you will find an environment that is student-centered, committed to personal and professional growth, and recognizes that each member of our community, from students and families to our staff, brings their whole self to school each day.
Our school operates on a Balanced Calendar model, which means that our teaching staff is in session from mid-July through mid-June each year. While the summer break is shorter than most schools, we observe additional breaks throughout the year, including a two-week intersession break in early October, an extended Thanksgiving break, an extended Christmas break, and an additional two-week intersession break in the spring. Research shows that students and teachers benefit from this type of schedule. Non-teaching, 12-month employees can expect a typical independent school work schedule.
WSG has high standards for student safety. All employees, including administrative and part-time employees, must pass a series of background checks and will be required to complete safety trainings as part of their onboarding process.
The Washington School for Girls is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We offer compensation and benefits packages that are competitive with area independent and Catholic schools, and we are committed to supporting ongoing professional development of all our employees.
